Celebrating 20 years of UniSQ Springfield!

The Springfield Regional Jobs Committee recently joined the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce for a special behind the scenes tour of the University of Southern Queensland’s Springfield campus, as UniSQ celebrates 20 years in Greater Springfield.

From Quantum Cryo Labs and industrial 3D printing through to experiencing the flight simulator, the tour provided a fascinating look at the technology, innovation and industry connected learning happening right here in our region.

For the SRJC, the visit was also an opportunity to look at the campus through a workforce lens.

Understanding the skills being developed locally, how education and training are responding to emerging industries, and where stronger connections can be built between employers and education providers is an important part of planning for our region’s future workforce.

The visit also provided an opportunity to connect with UniSQ Vice Chancellor and President Professor Paul Mazerolle, Pro Vice Chancellor (Engagement) Shawn Walker, Head of Industry and Community Partnerships Rouz Fard, RDA Ipswich & West Moreton CEO Rees Banks and Paul R Ronis from Periscope Management Consultants, alongside members of the local business community.

As Greater Springfield and the surrounding region continue to grow, connecting education with the needs of industry will become increasingly important. It is about ensuring the skills being developed locally align with where jobs are heading and creating clearer pathways for local people to participate in that growth.

Congratulations to UniSQ Springfield on 20 years in Greater Springfield. The SRJC looks forward to continuing to work with UniSQ, industry and our regional partners to strengthen local skills, workforce pathways and industry connections.
