Connecting with Industry at the Manufacturing Hub Forum

It was a pleasure to attend and connect with local businesses at the Manufacturing Hub Forum, held at our very own Brookwater this morning. The event provided a valuable opportunity to hear directly from manufacturers about the challenges and opportunities shaping the industry, and to strengthen connections across the sector.

It is an exciting time for manufacturing in South-East Queensland. Our region’s proximity to key manufacturing corridors positions it strongly for growth, innovation and workforce expansion, and forums like this play an important role in ensuring industry voices are heard.

The Springfield Regional Jobs Committee welcomes ongoing engagement with manufacturing businesses to better understand workforce needs, skills gaps and emerging opportunities. Conversations like those held this morning are essential to shaping practical, place-based workforce solutions that support both industry and local jobseekers.

The forum also provided the opportunity to hear first-hand an overview of the Queensland Government’s Transforming Queensland Manufacturing Strategy 2025–2030, outlining the state’s long-term vision to drive innovation, lift productivity and grow our export markets over the next five years. It aims to build on Queensland’s traditional strengths while expanding our capabilities in growth sectors.

The Springfield Regional Jobs Committee thanks Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development, Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning and Ipswich City Council for delivering a valuable forum and supporting strong collaboration across the manufacturing sector.
